M.I.A- Born Free

This is a powerful video/short film from M.I.A, for her first single of her highly anticipated third album (due in June 29, 2010, title has not been confirmed yet). This video has been baned by youtube due to its graphic violence. I think this video will cause a lot of talk but the message behind this video has a great meaning and I hope people don't take it out of context like they did Erykah Badu's "Window Seat" video.

American Pop: Directed by Ralph Bakshi

This link will bring you to the movie Watch Now

"American Pop" is the animated story of a very talented and troubled family starting with 19th century Russia and moving through several generations of musicians. The film covers American music from the pre-jazz age through soul, '50s rock, drug-laden psychadelia, and punk, finally ending with the onset of new wave in the early 1980s"

This movie was real inspiring. To see the struggle from generation to generation to achieve a dream, then to see the dream live on. There is a lot of dope music in the movie as well. This film was very different for its time it was rotoscoped animation. This is the animation and idea for Kanye West's Heartless Directed by Hype Williams.

This is a dope film and I recommend it. If you don't like watching movies on your computer, add this to you netflix list asap.

Out and about

This Pizza place is so GOOD =)

So Chase, Timmy and I went downtown with some friends (sky, nikkinice, samantha aka sky's girlfriend) to celebrate Timmy's birthday week (he turned 20) and his final week in Orlando (Timmy is moving back to CT because school is over for him in a week). Orlando's downtown area has a pretty decent rate of homeless people and its pretty depressing to walk past hungry, homeless human being. So we decided to make some small talk to two cool individuals. When the man with the white shirt first seen chase and I, he thought we were celebrities lol After a long talk he proceeded to eventually ask for money and Chase and I gave him some change. Chase gave him his Half dollar and told the man to put it in his shoe for good luck (which he did). It felt good to brighten someones day, even if it was briefly.

Local Talents

So Chase and I decided to go see some local bands at The House of Blues in Orlando (a teacher we previously had, was throwing the event) and show support to artist who are trying to make a name for themselves. The turnout was really good and the bands were amazing. We definitely had a good night. I love going to see bands or artist before they become mainstream because you really get to see the real creative side of their art (before the big label comes in and tries to change them).

Aim for the stars....

“The greater danger for most of us is not that our aim is too high and we miss it,
but that it is too low and we reach it.”

Michaelangelo

We're just ordinary people....We don't know which way to go

"Experience is a great teacher" John Legend

But ain't nothin on my clothes 'Cept my chain My name....

This picture is another old picture but there is significance to this. Back when we first came up with The New Regime, we had no money, no symbol or really any idea of what we really wanted to accomplish. So we brought hanes shirts from Wal-Mart, had are dude Hammy flip the North Face symbol and add The New Regime and we were in business (until North Face contacted us =x). So this picture symbolizes how far we have come since that point and also how much The New Regime has grown.

Throwbacks....

So I was going through the camera and I came across some old pictures from senior year in Danbury High school. That was in 2008 and it seemed like it was yesterday. The top picture is Chase, Dane and me. Dane is one of my closest friends and we've been friends since 6th grade. Dane is a lady's man but he is also a bright young man who I know is gonna be successful one day. Dane is definitely one of my friends I admire. Below is Chase, Timmy and I. Timmy and I go way back, we known each other since 5th grade and man have we been through a lot but I love him like a brother. He is another close friend and definitely my most reckless friend, but that's what makes him Timmy or what we refer to him as T. Cole (and he will battle rap anyone hahaha).

Catch me courtside with a Cavalier

Anyone who knows me, knows that I am the BIGGEST LeBron James fan! I have been following this guy since the 6th grade, before he was in the NBA. I always knew he was gonna be special, but of course he plays for his local team the Cleveland Cavaliers, Ohio as a state has to have the worse sports team in the history of sports. Management has finally put a legitimate team around James, Jordan won his first ring his seventh season and its only rite LeBron does the same. So are motto is "Win a ring for the King". The Cavs are up 2-1 on the Chicago Buls and LeBron should be recieving his 2nd consecutive MVP trophy soon!

You Think your So Cool

Photobucket

Pic By : Jasper

Cool is:
something sleek, simple and bold, that feels effortless.
to be the first, the original that starts a trend and is iconic.
forward-thinking, breaks boundaries, confident. Cool is the idea you wish you thought of first.
the audacity to be different for reasons that don’t need to be articulated & unconsciously achieving it.
cool is what stands up - what makes you take a notice and appreciate something beyond the norm. When you see a product or a design or creation and your mind just screams at the want of it - or the appreciation to understand it more fully - that is cool.
cool is what makes you think twice.
Cool is somthing that pops up in our minds when we see something positivly extraordiany!
Cool makes you nod in agreement with all your senses, makes you grin and perhaps the goosebumbs follow. Cool penetrates beyond fake reactions, cool blows the dryness of your face, cool opens your eyes to walk away from it knowing that there is more than generic and monotonous garbage.
effortless style, a hint of madness and heaps of attitude
a mindset —being informed, relaxed, and expressing it effortlessly.
the word 'cool' is just confidence in aesthetic form.

Noam Chomsky's Manufacturing Consent

Manufacturing Consent : The Political Economy of the Mass Media

Manufacturing Consent posits that corporate-owned news mass communication media — print, radio, television — are businesses subject to commercial competition for advertising revenue and profit. As such, their distortion (editorial bias) of news reportage — i.e. what types of news, which items, and how they are reported — is consequence of the profit motive that requires establishing a stable, profitable business; therefore, news businesses favoring profit over the public interest succeed, while those favoring reportorial accuracy over profits fail, and are relegated to the margins of their markets (low sales and ratings).

The Way of the Wise

Photobucket

“Before you embark on any path ask the question: Does this path have a heart? If the answer is no, you will know it, and then you must choose another path. The trouble is nobody asks the question; and when a man finally realizes that he has taken a path without a heart, the path is ready to kill him. At that point very few men can stop to deliberate, and leave the path. A path without a heart is never enjoyable. You have to work hard even to take it. On the other hand, a path with heart is easy; it does not make you work at liking it.” ~ Don Juan, Teachings of Don Juan, A Yaqui Way of Knowledge Via:Thetoltecpath

Dame has been grinding on the low for a minute and now it seems his reign is soon upon us once again. In recent news Dame has been working on his BlakRoc project, including names such as the Black Keys, Ludacris, Reakwon the Cheif, Rza, Jim Jones, Mos Def and others. He also has been working with the young Hot Spitta Curren$y, these names will surely be buzzing. If Dame links back up with Irv Gotti like in the Golden Age of Hip-Hop. New York might have a fighting chance defending New York City from wack Hip-Hop.

“It is impossible for capitalism to survive, primarily because the system of capitalism needs some blood to suck. Capitalism used to be like an eagle, but now it's more like a vulture. It used to be strong enough to go and suck anybody's blood whether they were strong or not. But now it has become more cowardly, like the vulture, and it can only suck the blood of the helpless. As the nations of the world free themselves, the capitalism has less victims, less to suck, and it becomes weaker and weaker. It's only a matter of time in my opinion before it will collapse completely.” Malcolm X #Raw_Wisdom from the 3rd_Kind

The Boys’ and Girls’ Guide to Getting Down

Photobucket

" “The Boys’ and Girls’ Guide to Getting Down” is a clever and biting satire of Los Angeles night life. Written in the form of a “how to” guide , there has never been a movie like it and it’s a must see for any kid arriving in the big city, or for party veterans who want to have a good laugh at their own expense. Follow a bunch of kids as they roam from bar to party to club to afterparty trying to have fun and get laid. Among other things, this guide will show you how to score free drinks, get into clubs, proper drug purchasing etiquette and how to get rid of an unwanted guest the next morning.
Completely politically incorrect, this is a truly original and independent film. It pulls no punches and is balls out funny. No big stars, but plenty of tits, ass, booze, drugs and laughs. Shot entirely on location in Hollywood. Please direct any questions to Paul Sapiano at discoman75@mac.com, or call him at 323 462 4194." {Via} Movie Site
